Moorhead's Uglem deadly on offense in 4-1 win against Brainerd

Behind a great game by Tony Uglem, who had two goals, the Moorhead Spuds defeated the Brainerd Warriors, 4-1.

Uglem found the back of the net 3:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Moorhead and again while 7:09 into the first to make the score 2-0 Moorhead.

Brainerd was stymied by Moorhead netminder Jacob Dittmer, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. The solid play of Dittmer will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.47.

The Spuds' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Brainerd power plays. Moorhead's offense was clicking better than usual and put 37 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.9 shot per game it averages.

Moorhead also got points from Aaron Herdt, who also had one goal and one assist. Leif Johnson also scored for Moorhead. In addition, Moorhead received assists from Alex Mehnert, Nicholas Uglem, Will Borgen, and Eric Barker, who each chipped in one.

The Warriors' offense operated below they season average. Brainerd averages 4.1 goals per game. The Warriors' offense rang up 36 shots on the Spuds' net.

Brainerd was led by Griffin Campbell, who scored the team's only goal. Campbell scored 5:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Moorhead. Reno Fussy provided the assist.

Moorhead incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Warriors' Kyle Helmberger stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Brainerd incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
