Marshall School Duluth outlasts Blake School, 4-2Blake School Ice Arena Sat, Dec 08, 2012 In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Marshall School Duluth Hilltoppers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Blake School Bears. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Connor Flaherty at 6:14 of the second period. Jeremy Lopez had two goals to lead Marshall School Duluth to victory. Lopez found the back of the net on the power play 12:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Marshall School Duluth and again while 15:22 into the third to make the score 4-2 Marshall School Duluth. The Hilltoppers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 17 penalty minutes. Marshall School Duluth kept Blake School's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jackson Norris made 30 saves on 34 shots. The Hilltoppers took advantage of the Bears' penalties, tallying three goals off of four power play opportunities. Marshall School Duluth also got a goal from Matthew Klassen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Marshall School Duluth were Kris McKinzie, who had two and Nate Sepp, John McKenna, Michael Damberg, and Luke Pavelich, who contributed one a piece. Blake School was helped by Johnny Ferguson, who grabbed one goal. Ferguson scored on the power play 4:56 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Bears had taken the advantage when Marshall School Duluth's Cam McClure got sent off for high sticking. Christopher Chute assisted on the tally. Edmund Chute also scored for Blake School. More assists for Blake School came via Cade Gleekel, who had one. The Hilltoppers' Alex Murray stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Blake School incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
