Morris/Benson Area beats Redwood Valley 8-0 as Picht gets hat trick

Tanner Picht netted a hat trick to lead the Morris/Benson Area Storm over the Redwood Valley Cardinals, 8-0.

Picht notched his first tally 2:54 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:19 into the first and at 4:59 into the second.

Morris/Benson Area's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Redwood Valley power plays. Redwood Valley was unable to stop the Storm from sending pucks towards the net, and Morris/Benson Area eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Morris/Benson Area additionally got points from Corey Storck, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Mac Beyer, who also tallied two goals and one assist, and Riley Blake, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, Morris/Benson Area received assists from Jordan Staples, who had two and Brody Gimberlin, Corey Goff, Eric Johnson, and Bo Gullickson, who contributed one a piece.

The Cardinals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Redwood Valley was held below its usual level of production. The Cardinals put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game.

The Storm's Kyle Kennedy stopped 16 shots out of the 16 that he faced. Morris/Benson Area incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jordan Houle rejected 35 shots on goal for Redwood Valley. The Cardinals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
