Morris/Benson Area completes comeback, beats Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato, 4-3

The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato Dragons could not hold down the Morris/Benson Area Storm, and Storm erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win.

Morris/Benson Area never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Storm was down 3-1 after a goal by Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato's Eddie Estrada at 14:45 in the second period. Morris/Benson Area tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Tanner Picht at 8:13 in the third period. The Storm scored the game winner at 8:38 in the third period on a goal by Picht.

Morris/Benson Area put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Dragons to score on any of their six power plays. The Storm kept Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato's goalie busy throughout the game, and Braeden Wahl made 49 saves on 53 shots.

Taner Gimberlin also scored for Morris/Benson Area. More assists for Morris/Benson Area came via Mac Beyer, who had two and Brody Gimberlin, who had three.

Morris/Benson Area was unable to stop the Dragons from sending pucks towards the net, and Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Dragons were helped by Aaron Haataja, who registered one goal. Haataja scored 2:18 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato. Kent Ryynanen provided the assist. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato also got a goal from Reid Nelson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato were Mike Spreiter, who had one and Ethan Niemela, who had two.

Kyle Kennedy rejected 32 shots on goal for the Storm. Morris/Benson Area incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
