Bemidji hangs on, beats St. Cloud Tech 3-2

The Bemidji Lumberjacks beat the St. Cloud Tech Tigers, 3-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Bemidji took over the lead for good with a goal by Noah Burns at 3:02 in the first period. Sam Carlson picked up the assist.

The Lumberjacks were led by Brett Isensee, who finished with one goal and one assist. Isensee scored 13:27 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bemidji. Carlson assisted on the tally.

Bemidji forced St. Cloud Tech goalie Austin Althaus to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Bemidji also got points from Burns, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sam Bruestle also scored for Bemidji. In addition, Bemidji received assists from Zach Ponser and Brett Hartje, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers were helped by Davis Reinholz, who racked up one goal. Reinholz scored on the power play 15:33 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Bemidji. Riley Bates picked up the assist. St. Cloud Tech additionally got points from Bates, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for St. Cloud Tech were Tanner Skaja and Braden Altena, who contributed one a piece.

Grant Tharaldson recorded 24 saves for the Lumberjacks. Bemidji incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. St. Cloud Tech's Althaus stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
