Austin takes care of Waseca early, wins 11-0

A five-goal first period deficit cost the Waseca Bluejays, which could not recover and fell to the Austin Packers, 11-0.

Austin got the win thanks to a great game by Marcus Stoulil, who had six goals and two assists. Stoulil notched his first tally 50 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 7:18 into the first, at 13:51 into the first, at 4:36 into the second, at 15:28 into the second, and at 12:15 into the third.

The Packers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Austin forced Waseca goalie Zac Weichert to work between the pipes, taking 56 shots. The Packers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Austin averages 4.3 goals per game.

Austin also got points from Cole Nicol, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tony Baudler, who also registered one goal and two assists, Ethan larson, who also racked up one goal and three assists, and Trevor Stevens, who also had one goal and one assist. Austin also got a goal from Blake Halsey as well. In addition, Austin received assists from Conor Peterson, Pat Wagner, Alec Papper, Dan Larson, Nick Castellano, and Alec Bawek, who each chipped in one.

The Bluejays managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Waseca finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bluejays did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Waseca averages 2.4 goals per game.

Gus Kirsch made 19 saves for the Packers on 19 shots. Austin totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Weichert recorded 45 saves for the Bluejays.
