St. Cloud Apollo beats Alexandria 2-0 as Althaus gains shutoutRunestone Tue, Dec 18, 2012 Nick Althaus recorded a shutout against the Alexandria Cardinals as the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles picked up a 2-0 win. St. Cloud Apollo was led by Jason Omann, who racked up one goal. Omann scored 10:57 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Cloud Apollo. Brandon Bloch assisted on the tally. The Eagles were held below their usual level of production. St. Cloud Apollo averages 4.8 goals per game. The Eagles was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. St. Cloud Apollo averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Eagles forced Alexandria goalie Ben Allen to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. St. Cloud Apollo also got a goal from Jordan Keller as well. In addition, St. Cloud Apollo received assists from Paul Kenney, who had one. The Cardinals could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Alexandria puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. St. Cloud Apollo was unable to stop the Cardinals from sending pucks towards the net, and Alexandria eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Cardinals managed to stay out of the box for the most part, registering only one major for 15 minutes in penalty time. Althaus rejected 35 shots on goal for the Eagles. St. Cloud Apollo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Allen recorded 33 saves for Alexandria. The Cardinals registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
