Tony Uglem lifted the Moorhead Spuds to an 8-4 victory with a hat trick against the Alexandria Cardinals.

Uglem got on the scoresheet 8:03 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:11 into the first and at 7:22 into the third.

Moorhead's offense rang up 54 shots on Alexandria's net. The Spuds did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Moorhead additionally got points from Nick Paulson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Austin Skjefte, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Patrick O''Connor, who also had one goal and two assists. Leif Johnson also scored for Moorhead. Other players who recorded assists for Moorhead were Will Borgen and Thomas Carey, who contributed one a piece and Aaron Herdt and Nicholas Uglem, who each chipped in two.

The Cardinals stifled Moorhead's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Alexandria was helped by Ryan Marciniak, who registered one goal. Marciniak scored 2:03 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Moorhead. Levi McFarlane assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Alexandria included Tom Schmidt, who had one and Toby Helgeson, who had two. More assists for Alexandria came via Brady Bast, Patrick Leary, and Matt Matt Resch, who contributed one a piece.

Peter MacFarlane made 14 saves for the Spuds on 18 shots. Moorhead registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Ben Allen rejected 46 shots on goal for the Cardinals. Alexandria incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
