Fergus Falls outlasts Alexandria, 4-2

The Fergus Falls Otters and the Alexandria Cardinals were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Fergus Falls made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Kyler Peterson's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Otters got the win on the strength of a great game by Zach Tarczon, who had one goal and two assists. Tarczon scored 16:43 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Fergus Falls.

In a losing effort, Alexandria was led by Tom Schmidt, who grabbed two goals. Schmidt scored the first of his two goals at 3:42 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Parker Revering provided the assist. Schmidt's next tally made the score 2-1 Alexandria with 11:19 left in the third period. Matt Resch assisted on the tally.

Fergus Falls forced the Cardinals goalie Ben Allen to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Casey Ward also scored for Fergus Falls. In addition, Fergus Falls received assists from Joe Nathe and Jesse Ketonen, who each chipped in one.

The Otters' Ian Bjorgum stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Fergus Falls incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Ben Allen made 42 saves for Alexandria on 46 shots. The Cardinals incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
