Cleveland squeaks by St. Louis, 4-2

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks and the St. Louis Jr. Blues were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cleveland made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Scott Cuthrell at 9:32 of the third period.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by Cuthrell, who had one goal.

Cleveland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Cleveland additionally got points from Jeff Monfils, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Dominic Valencia, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Cameron Dimmitt, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Fred West, who had two and Bo Zinner and Jared Johnson, who each chipped in one.

St. Louis forced Jr. Lumberjacks' goalies to work in net, totaling 37 shots and forcing 35 saves. Joseph Moza made 20 stops and David Heflin made 15. The Jr. Blues stifled the Jr. Lumberjacks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Louis' offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Blues put an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. St. Louis' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Jr. Blues average 1.5 goal allowed per game.

St. Louis was helped by Trey Dodd, who finished with one goal. Dodd scored 7:50 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Sam Turner also scored for St. Louis.

Cleveland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mikael Broliden made 14 saves for the Jr. Blues on 18 shots. St. Louis incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
