North Iowa takes care of Toledo early, wins 9-1Troy Sports 2 Wed, Feb 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A five-goal first period deficit cost the Toledo Cherokee, which could not recover and fell to the North Iowa Bulls, 9-1. North Iowa got the win behind a great game by Conor Jonasson, who had two goals and two assists. Jonasson scored the first of his two goals at 8:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa. Richie Marenis assisted on the tally. Jonasson's next tally made the score 5-0 North Iowa with 1:50 left in the first period. Logan Murphy picked up the assist. The Bulls forced Cherokee's goalies to work all game long, taking 40 shots and forcing 31 saves. Nate Gay made 11 stops and Nathan Miller made 20. North Iowa's goal total was higher than its season average. The Bulls have scored at the pace of 6.3 goals per game during the current campaign. North Iowa additionally got points from Eric Behrend, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Tony Paulson, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Murphy, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Marenis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Taylor Brown, who also tallied one goal and two assists.
