Leon stymies Granite City, Quad City wins 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Jake Leon helped the Quad City Jr. Flames defeat the Granite City Lumberjacks, 2-1.

Quad City was sparked by Tanner Litvinoff, who had one goal. Litvinoff scored 11:38 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Owen Ahlstrom assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Flames' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Granite City power plays.

Anthony Caroselli also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Joe Edwards, who had two.

Granite City was held below its usual level of production. The Lumberjacks average 4.7 goals per game. Granite City kept Quad City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Leon made 33 saves on 34 shots.

The Lumberjacks were led by Nick Turbitt, who scored the team's only goal. Turbitt scored short handed 9:00 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Granite City played down a man on Alex Carson's boarding. Roy Grandov picked up the assist.

The Jr. Flames incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Lumberjacks' Austin Wilson stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Granite City incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
