Early goals doom Twin City, falls to Peoria, 7-2

The Twin City Steel fell behind early, and the Peoria Mustangs kept piling on the points on the way to a 7-2 victory.

Brendan Murphy had a great game for Peoria, netting two goals. Murphy's tallies came on the power play at 2:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria and on the power play 18:12 into the first to make the score 4-0 Peoria.

The Mustangs' offense rang up 35 shots on Twin City's net. Peoria bested its season scoring average. This season, the Mustangs average 2.9 goals per contest. Peoria capitalized on the Steel's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. The defensemen of the Mustangs were also effective in Twin City's zone, and came away with two goals.

Peoria also got points from Kevin Piskie, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Lyndon Fields, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Alexander Turin also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Levi Armstrong, Brennan Anderson, and Austin Wisely, who contributed one a piece and Cory Kettler and Nikolas Sakellaropoulos, who each chipped in two.

Alex Reichle rejected 26 shots on goal for Peoria. The Mustangs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Parker Butler recorded 28 saves for the Steel. Twin City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
