St. Louis rolls over Metro, 6-2

The Metro Jets had trouble finding ways to stop the St. Louis Jr. Blues, which beat Jets, 6-2.

St. Louis got the win with help from a great game by Victor Gortz, who had two goals and one assist. Gortz scored the first of his two goals at 12:47 into the first period to make the score 3-0 St. Louis. Tyler Opilka assisted on the tally. Gortz's next tally made the score 6-2 St. Louis with 11:10 left in the third period. Cody Guidorzi picked up the assist.

The Jr. Blues forced Metro's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 56 shots and forcing 50 saves. Austin Julvezan made 48 stops and Trevor Kalinowski made two. St. Louis excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

St. Louis also got points from Lukas Daniels, who also registered one goal and one assist and Guidorzi, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Louis also got a goal from Sam Turner as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Lucas Stewart, who had two and Joey Luongo, Trace Jablin, Kerry McGlynn, Trey Dodd, and Brycon Johnson, who each chipped in one.

The Jets stifled the Jr. Blues' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Metro was helped by Thomas Evans, who had one goal. Evans scored 3:04 into the third period to make the score 4-2 St. Louis. Michael Lawrence provided the assist. Matt Stirling also scored for Metro. In addition, Metro received assists from Andrew Palushaj, who had one and Doug Andrews, who had two.

St. Louis' Mikael Broliden stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Jr. Blues incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Jets ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Metro, Andrews was ejected from the game.
