Quad City outlasts Flint, 4-2

The Quad City Jr. Flames gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Flint Jr. Generals.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jake Wynd at 6:19 of the third period.

Wynd had one goal and three assists to lead Quad City.

The Jr. Flames pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 45 penalty minutes.

Quad City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Flint power plays. The Jr. Flames found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Quad City averages 1.9 goal per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Quad City also got a goal from Peter Coppola as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Clayton Janecke and Anthony Caroselli, who each chipped in one.

Flint was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Generals had been averaging 36.0 minutes in penalties per game. Flint's offense rang up 47 shots on the Jr. Flames' net.

The Jr. Generals were helped by Trevor Benaglio, who finished with one goal. Benaglio scored short handed 9:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Flint. Flint was on a disadvantage when Adrain Larsson went off the ice for roughing. Nicholas Goetel provided the assist. Christopher Skordilis also scored for Flint. In addition, Flint received assists from Edward Osowski, Ian Teal, and Ryan Running, who contributed one a piece.

Robby Vukelich made 45 saves for Quad City on 47 shots. The Jr. Flames registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Quad City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Janecke was ejected from the game. Running rejected 22 shots on goal for the Jr. Generals. For Flint, Eric Jones and Benaglio were ejected from the contest.
