Toledo rides Miller to victory over Breezy Point, 2-1Schwan SR-2 Sun, Dec 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Nathan Miller helped the Toledo Cherokee defeat the Breezy Point North Stars, 2-1. Toledo was led by Alec Gerred, who registered one goal and one assist. Gerred scored on the power play 2:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Toledo. A boarding penalty on Brandon Bronze had put the Cherokee on the power play. Jake Manders picked up the assist. Toledo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Breezy Point power plays. Breezy Point was unable to stop the Cherokee from sending pucks towards the net, and Toledo eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Toledo also got a goal from Andrew Benyo as well. More assists for Toledo came via Brody Duncan and Connor Crowe, who each chipped in one. The North Stars were led by Andrew Sorben, who scored the team's only goal. Sorben scored 2:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Breezy Point. Miller recorded 29 saves for the Cherokee. Toledo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Breezy Point's Ian Shidlofsky stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The North Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
