Peoria holds on for 2-1 win against Breezy Point

The Breezy Point North Stars tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Peoria Mustangs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

A goal by Cory Kettler put Peoria up 2-0 in the second period, but Breezy Point pulled to within one on Anthony Martinez's tally 17:26 into the third period.

The North Stars were stymied by the Mustangs netminder Michael Parda, who stopped 38 shots during the victory. Parda certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.03 entering the contest.

Peoria was led by Kettler, who racked up one goal. Kettler scored 6:00 into the second period to make the score Peoria. Alexander Turin assisted on the tally.

The Mustangs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Breezy Point to score on any of its three power plays. Peoria's offense rang up 43 shots on the North Stars' net.

Cody Lichtenvoort also scored for Peoria.

The Mustangs were unable to stop Breezy Point from sending pucks towards the net, and the North Stars eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Breezy Point could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Other players who recorded assists for Breezy Point were Billy Foy and Tyler Reichl, who each chipped in one.

Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Erikur Arnason recorded 41 saves for the North Stars.
