Huge game by Guidorzi boosts St. Louis over Toledo, 6-1

The St. Louis Jr. Blues' Cody Guidorzi had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-1 win over the Toledo Cherokee.

Guidorzi scored at 19:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis and again while 36 seconds into the third to make the score 3-1 St. Louis.

St. Louis excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Blues forced Toledo goalie Nathan Miller to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. St. Louis got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Louis also got a goal from Kyle Meeh as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Jeremy Edwards, Sam Turner, Trey Dodd, Brycon Johnson, and Mike Lozano, who contributed one a piece.

The Cherokee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four St. Louis power plays. Toledo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Cherokee average 3.7 goals per game.

Toledo was led by Blake Podgorski, who scored the team's only goal. Podgorski scored 14:15 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Brandon Layman picked up the assist.

Clint Steinmeyer recorded 21 saves for the Jr. Blues. St. Louis incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Cherokee's Miller stopped 33 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Toledo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
