Alexandria uses early goal to top Metro, 2-0

The Alexandria Blizzard took the lead against the Metro Jets in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

A goal 14:40 into the the first period by Zach Hill proved to be the game winner, and powered Alexandria to the victory Ritchie Brown picked up the assist.

The Blizzard were sparked by Hill, who tallied one goal.

Alexandria's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Metro power plays. The Blizzard featured an improved defense during the game. Alexandria averages 2.2 goals allowed per game. The Blizzard's offense rang up 48 shots on Metro's net.

Chayce Coenen also scored for Alexandria. More assists for Alexandria came via Will Becker, Bryce Mitzel, and Nate Mettenburg, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets stifled Alexandria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Metro did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jets average 3.7 goals per game. Metro did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force 10 saves.

Kyle Miller rejected 10 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Alexandria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Jets' Trevor Kalinowski stopped 46 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Metro incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
