Twin City blows out Flint, 5-2

The Twin City Steel had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Flint Jr. Generals.

Trey Hughes was all over the ice for Twin City, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Hughes scored 10:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Ryan McAloon assisted on the tally.

Flint's power play was ineffective against the Steel's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Twin City kept the Jr. Generals' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ted Barile made 29 saves on 34 shots.

Twin City additionally got points from Tom Bartel, who also racked up one goal and one assist and McAloon, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Twin City also got a goal from Tyler Lodin as well. In addition, Twin City received assists from Calvin Miska, who had two and Noah Anderson, Shane Hill, and Kegan Storjohann, who contributed one a piece.

Flint put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Steel to score on any of their three power plays. The Jr. Generals forced Twin City goalie Sawyer Marshall to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Flint was helped by Brett Leppek, who finished with one goal. Leppek scored on the power play 15:40 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Twin City. The Jr. Generals had gotten the advantage when the Steel's Anderson was sent off for holding. Edward Osowski provided the assist. Eric Jones also scored for Flint. More assists for Flint came via Andrew Lay, who had two.

Marshall recorded 40 saves for Twin City. The Steel incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Flint incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
