Cal U holds on for 4-3 win against Neumann University

Neumann University tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Cal U would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Mitch Fernandez put Cal U up 4-2 in the third period, but Neumann University pulled to within one on Ryan Dreger's tally 14:14 into the third period.

Fernandez had a great game for Cal U, netting two goals.

Cal U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Neumann University to score on any of its seven power plays. Cal U's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Cal U finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Cal U also got a goal from Jeremy Pell as well. In addition, Cal U received assists from Kevin Claybaugh, who had two and Shane Ierardi and Tim Gleason, who contributed one a piece.

Neumann University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Neumann University could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Neumann University puts an average of 6.7 pucks into the net per game.

Neumann University was helped by Micheal Scarpone, who tallied one goal. Scarpone scored 5:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cal U. Jeff MOrris picked up the assist. Jake Slimm also scored for Neumann University.

Zach Stewart rejected 25 shots on goal for Cal U. Jeffery Radice recorded 25 saves for Neumann University. Neumann University incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
