In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Fredonia State University escaped with a 4-2 victory over U.N.C. Willmigton.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Shawn Riccio's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Riccio had a great game for Fredonia State University, netting two goals.

Fredonia State University pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Fredonia State University stifled U.N.C. Willmigton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. U.N.C. Willmigton was unable to stop Fredonia State University from sending pucks towards the net, and Fredonia State University eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Fredonia State University also got a goal from Mike McCarthy as well. In addition, Fredonia State University received assists from Phillip Difrancisco, who had two and Ryan Zappia, Brian Marrano, and Alex Garfield, who contributed one a piece.

U.N.C. Willmigton's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Fredonia State University power plays.

U.N.C. Willmigton was led by Kevin Mullaney, who finished with one goal and one assist. Mullaney scored 1:01 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Joe Calahan provided the assist. Scott Edwards also scored for U.N.C. Willmigton. More assists for U.N.C. Willmigton came via Mike Kane, who had one.

Garrett Nelson rejected 25 shots on goal for Fredonia State University. Calvin Stone recorded 38 saves for U.N.C. Willmigton. U.N.C. Willmigton totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play.
