Justin Locante scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Cal U picked up the extra point in a 3-2 win over Loyola University.

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. Cal U also got a shootout goal from Locante.

Cal U saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Cal U made the score 2-0 on a goal by Cory Beam at 3:02 in the second period. Loyola University evened things up at 2-2 on a goal by Tim Condon at 15:21 in the third period.

Cal U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Cal U kept Loyola University's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Lindberg made 29 saves on 32 shots. Cal U could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Mitch Fernandez also scored for Cal U. Other players who recorded assists for Cal U were Kevin Claybaugh, who had one and Neil Stewart, who had two.

Loyola University stifled Cal U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Loyola University also got a goal from Brian Kelley as well. In addition, Loyola University received assists from Mike Larrabee, who had one.

Cal U's Zach Stewart stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Cal U registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Loyola University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
