Kelly lifts SUNY Maritime over University at Albany, 5-2

Billy Kelly had two goals to lead the SUNY Maritime Privateers to a 5-2 victory over the University at Albany Great Danes.

Kelly found the back of the net 14:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 SUNY Maritime and again while 17:05 into the second to make the score 3-1 SUNY Maritime.

University at Albany's power play was ineffective against SUNY Maritime's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Privateers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Great Danes to score on any of their seven power plays. SUNY Maritime's offense rang up 31 shots on University at Albany's net. The Privateers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 33 minutes in penalties during the game.

KJ Paseka also scored for SUNY Maritime. More assists for SUNY Maritime came via Jeff Dolan, Vincent Pedulla, and Vincent Monfredo, who each chipped in one.

The Great Danes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. University at Albany was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 31 penalty minutes.

The Great Danes were helped by Jeremy Lindh, who registered one goal. Lindh scored 13:53 into the second period to make the score 1-1. AJ Lamacchia assisted on the tally. University at Albany also got a goal from Benny Ciliotta as well.

Harris Burger rejected 26 shots on goal for SUNY Maritime. Thomas Caswell recorded 26 saves for University at Albany.
