Farmingdale State downs Fairfield University in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Freeport Rec Centre Sat, Sep 29, 2012 Scott Brennan gave the Farmingdale State Rams a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Fairfield University Stags when he scored 8:51 into the extra period. Fairfield University's power play was ineffective against Farmingdale State's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Rams were led by Brennan, who registered one goal. Farmingdale State kept the Stags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brian oLoughlin made 41 saves on 44 shots. Farmingdale State also got a goal from Matthew Johnson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Farmingdale State were Jack Radin, Menicino John, and Justin Von Wieding, who contributed one a piece. The Rams were unable to stop Fairfield University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Stags eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Fairfield University found itself short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. The Stags were helped by Brendan OMalley, who grabbed one goal. OMalley scored on the power play 16:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fairfield University. Fairfield University earned a power play opportunity when Joe Kublbock was put in the box for illegal check to the head. Peter Lanigan assisted on the tally. Michael Masters also scored for Fairfield University. In addition, Fairfield University received assists from Billy Kamenidies, who had one. Farmingdale State's Bryan Clemens stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Rams ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Stags ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Patrick Breed was ejected from the game.
