Vanderwyk's goals lift Rhinelander Street Cats to 6-3 victory over Bloomington Blaze

Devin Vanderwyk was all over the ice for Rhinelander Street Cats, as he tallied two goals in Rhinelander Street Cats' 6-3 win over Bloomington Blaze.

Vanderwyk found the back of the net 10:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Rhinelander Street Cats and again while 5:34 into the second to make the score 3-2 Rhinelander Street Cats.

Rhinelander Street Cats' penalty kill excelled, as Rhinelander Street Cats gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Rhinelander Street Cats stifled Bloomington Blaze's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Rhinelander Street Cats forced Bloomington Blaze goalie Gavin Carlson to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. The defensemen of Rhinelander Street Cats were also effective in Bloomington Blaze's zone, and came away with two goals.

Rhinelander Street Cats also got points from Caleb Stolzman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kirill Kulakov, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Todd Houtari also scored for Rhinelander Street Cats. Other players who recorded assists for Rhinelander Street Cats were Peter Carlin, who had two and Eric Blankenship, Cody Schatzman, and John Chechelnitski, who contributed one a piece.

Bloomington Blaze excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Bloomington Blaze kept Rhinelander Street Cats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Rushan Guinuillin made 40 saves on 43 shots.

Bloomington Blaze was led by Patrick Anaruk, who had one goal and one assist. Anaruk scored 14:56 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Rhinelander Street Cats. Matt Donley assisted on the tally. Bloomington Blaze also got a goal from Steven Smoltz as well. In addition, Bloomington Blaze received assists from Drew Daley and Kyler Schmor, who each chipped in one.

Rhinelander Street Cats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Carlson recorded 41 saves for Bloomington Blaze. Bloomington Blaze incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
