Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) wins tough contest against Thunder AAA Hockey (MM), 5-3

Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) and Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Michael Sweeney's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) got the win behind a great game by Sweeney, who had two goals and one assist. Sweeney scored the first of his two goals at 6:34 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Sweeney's next tally made the score 3-2 Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) with 2:01 left in the second period.

Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) stifled Thunder AAA Hockey (MM)'s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Matthew Michalke also scored for Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM). In addition, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) received assists from John (Jack) Gyurina, Trevor Nelson, and Michael Louria, who contributed one a piece.

Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) to score on any of its three power plays.

Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) was led by Troy Sutherland, who finished with one goal and one assist. Sutherland scored 7:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Thunder AAA Hockey (MM). Gabriel Chabot assisted on the tally. Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) also got a goal from AJ Peckich as well. More assists for Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) came via Brendon Dickerson and Connor McKenzie, who each chipped in one.

Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM)'s Colin DeAugustine stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (MM) incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jackson Germaine rejected 22 shots on goal for Thunder AAA Hockey (MM). Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
