Huge game by Belling boosts Helena over Glacier, 15-0Centennial Ice Garden Sat, Feb 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Helena Bighorns' Corbin Belling had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing four assists in his team's 15-0 win over Glacier. Belling got on the board by slotting home a goal 15:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Helena. Brandon Rumble assisted on the tally. Belling dished an assist on Wyatt Winfield's goal that made the score 6-0 Helena at 10:46 into the second period. He then added assists on Winfield's goal at 16:24 into the second, on Damon Hanson's goal at 7:51 into the third, and on Winfield's goal at 11:44 into the third.Alek Lazarski spearheaded the defensive effort for Helena, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 25 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Lazarski will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 0.88. The Bighorns made Glacier's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 91 shots and forcing 76 saves. Tyler Huberty made 51 stops and Mitchell Tyson made 25. Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Bighorns found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Helena averages 6.9 goals per game. Helena also got points from Winfield, who also grabbed four goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Devin Smith, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Logan Henne, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Jacob Wolter, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Austin Loes, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Helena also got a goal from Theo Campe as well. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Dylan Canoy, Parker Olson, Ben Henne, John Petersson, and Matt Mohar, who contributed one a piece and Kyle Baker, Ben Henry, and Nick Okada, who each chipped in two. Glacier could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Glacier averages 2.7 goals per game. Glacier's penalty kill unit could not stop the Bighorns' power play, which converted on four of six opportunities. Glacier was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Helena incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Glacier, Jackson Schroeder was ejected from the game.
