Billings blows out Glacier, 6-3Stumptown Ice Den Fri, Nov 09, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Billings Bulls had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over Glacier. Glacier fell victim to a deadly Billings power play, which ripped Glacier for four goals. The Bulls racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Billings had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. Glacier was unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and Billings eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Bulls found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Billings has scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The Bulls' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals. Billings was helped by Nick Rizzo, who registered two goals. Rizzo scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Billings. The Bulls earned a power play opportunity when Tucker Spooner was put in the box for slashing. Jarrett Stark picked up the assist. Rizzo's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Billings with 19:41 left in the third period. Adam Wikingsson assisted on the tally. Billings additionally got points from Stephen Thompson, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Billings included Luke Bing, who had one and Trey Robillard, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Billings were Christopher Timm, who had one and Ging Martin, who had two. Glacier forced Billings goalie Taylor Kruiswyk to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Glacier found itself short handed often, totaling 29 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays. Glacier was led by Paul Kinder, who had two goals and one assist. Kinder scored the first of his two goals at 14:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Billings. Sebastian Adnell provided the assist. Kinder's next tally made the score 5-2 Billings with 14:29 left in the third period. A tripping penalty on John Vant had put Glacier on the power play. Kyle Watne assisted on the tally. In addition, Glacier received assists from Johnathon Walker, who had one. Kruiswyk recorded 29 saves for the Bulls. For Billings, Erik Schulte was ejected from the game. Glacier's Tyler Huberty stopped 32 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Glacier registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Glacier ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chris Cutshall was ejected from the game.
