Helena shrugs off penalties, upends Glacier, 9-2

Glacier failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and Helena shook off a number of penalties to win, 9-2.

Helena was sparked by Devin Smith, who had one goal and one assist. Smith scored 15:29 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Helena. Jacob Wolter assisted on the tally.

Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Helena's offense rang up 57 shots on Glacier's net. The defensemen of Helena were also effective in Glacier's zone, and came away with two goals.

Helena also got points from Theo Campe, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brandon Rumble, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Parker Olson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Wyatt Winfield, who also had one goal and one assist, and Ben Henne, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Helena included Damon Hanson, who had one and Danny Fazio, who had two. More assists for Helena came via Kyle Baker, Logan Hawgood, and Kevin Choi, who contributed one a piece and Dylan Webster and Christian Axelson, who each chipped in two.

Glacier was helped by Brandon Vitale, who tallied one goal. Vitale scored 7:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Glacier. Travis Redman provided the assist. Paul Kinder also scored for Glacier. In addition, Glacier received assists from Evan Carter, Tucker Spooner, and Kyle Watne, who contributed one a piece.

Julian DiFilippo rejected 18 shots on goal for Helena. Helena totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 5-for-11 on the power play. Tyler Huberty recorded 48 saves for Glacier. Glacier ended with 31 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and one major.
