MISSISSAUGA downs BURLINGTON in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Kelly Mariani gave MISSISSAUGA a 4-3 (OT) victory over BURLINGTON when she scored 21 seconds into the extra period.

Although MISSISSAUGA was up by as many as two goals in the second period, BURLINGTON kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. BURLINGTON pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Mellissa Channell at 9:32 in the third period.

MISSISSAUGA was paced by Mariani, who registered one goal and one assist.

BURLINGTON was unable to stop MISSISSAUGA from sending pucks towards the net, and MISSISSAUGA eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. MISSISSAUGA's power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on 10 chances.

MISSISSAUGA also got points from Nadine Edney, who also had one goal and one assist and Kristyn Capizzano, who also tallied one goal and one assist. MISSISSAUGA also got a goal from Hilary Lloyd as well. In addition, MISSISSAUGA received assists from Ainsley MacMillan, who had one and Kaitlin Doering and Victoria Bach, who contributed two a piece.

BURLINGTON stifled MISSISSAUGA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. BURLINGTON's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

BURLINGTON was helped by Maeve Garvey, who racked up one goal. Garvey scored 17:41 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Christine Neatby assisted on the tally. BURLINGTON additionally got points from Neatby, who also registered one goal and one assist and Channell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for BURLINGTON were Megan Delay and Becki Bowering, who each chipped in one.

Alysia DaSilva made 22 saves for MISSISSAUGA on 25 shots. MISSISSAUGA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Rilee Wasilik rejected 30 shots on goal for BURLINGTON. BURLINGTON totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For BURLINGTON, Kirsten Miller was ejected from the game.
