The Little Britain Merchants survived a determined comeback attempt by the Clarington Eagles on the way to a 5-3 win. Little Britain took a 5-2 lead during the third period, only to have Clarington storm back on a Dan Michel goal 12:59 into the third period to pull to two goals down. Mark Vasey was all over the ice for the Merchants, as he had two goals in the win. Vasey scored at 10:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 19:59 into the second to make the score 3-2 Little Britain. The Eagles were unable to stop Little Britain from sending pucks towards the net, and the Merchants eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Little Britain got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Little Britain also got a goal from Mitch Berzins as well. More assists for Little Britain came via Scott Mcguire, Kurtis Moore, Mitch Phinney, Jesse Beers, and Neil Pittock, who each chipped in one. Clarington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Eagles' offense rang up 51 shots on the Merchants' net. Clarington was helped by Craig Crowther, who registered one goal and one assist. Crowther scored on the power play 5:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. The Eagles had taken the advantage when Little Britain's Curtis Lee got sent off for cross checking. Brent Hambly assisted on the tally. Clarington also got points from Hambly, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Michel, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Clarington received assists from Luke Garneau, who had one and Dylan Howorko, who had two. The Merchants' Pittock stopped 48 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Little Britain incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Nick Keleher made 41 saves for Clarington on 45 shots. The Eagles incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
