Black-Araujo's goals lift Clarington to 6-2 victory over Little Britain

Courtland Black-Araujo was all over the ice for the Clarington Eagles, as he tallied two goals in Clarington's 6-2 win over the Little Britain Merchants.

Black-Araujo's tallies came at 7:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Little Britain and 9:32 into the third to make the score 3-2 Clarington.

The Eagles' penalty kill excelled, as Clarington gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Eagles forced Little Britain's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Neil Pittock made 29 stops and Garrett Haden made three. Clarington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Eagles average 3.1 goals per game. Clarington was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances.

Clarington additionally got points from Cody Kean, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Dan Michel, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Greg St. James, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Clarington also got a goal from Brent Hambly as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Thomas Garrity, Graham Snoek, Blane Gaudon, and Brad Down, who contributed one a piece.

The Merchants were led by Mitch Berzins, who racked up one goal and one assist. Berzins scored 15:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Little Britain. Scott Mcguire picked up the assist. Mark Vasey also scored for Little Britain. Other players who recorded assists for Little Britain were stuart fierheller and Kurtis Moore, who each chipped in one.

Anthony DUrso made 23 saves for the Eagles on 25 shots. Clarington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Little Britain incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
