NEPEAN survives penalties, beats BRAMPTON, 4-1

NEPEAN's penalty kill was superb, as NEPEAN survived multiple penalties to beat BRAMPTON, 4-1.

NEPEAN was paced by Alison MacKenzie, who registered one goal. MacKenzie scored 6:25 into the second period to make the score 2-0 NEPEAN. Dallis Ferguson assisted on the tally.

NEPEAN put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BRAMPTON to score on any of its six power plays. NEPEAN's offense rang up 38 shots on BRAMPTON's net. The defensemen of NEPEAN were also effective in BRAMPTON's zone, and came away with two goals.

NEPEAN additionally got points from Taylor Thurston, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sam Cogan also scored for NEPEAN. More assists for NEPEAN came via Katryne Villeneuve, Mackenzie Stone, Natalie Fraser (PU), Meghan Brennan, Alyssa Baker, and Josiane Pozzebon, who each chipped in one.

BRAMPTON's offense was handcuffed by NEPEAN's defensive play, and BRAMPTON managed only 11 shots on goal during the game. BRAMPTON could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

BRAMPTON was led by Shaelynne Smith (A), who scored the team's only goal. Smith (A) scored 12:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 NEPEAN. Candace Seguin picked up the assist.

Makayla Campbell rejected 10 shots on goal for NEPEAN. NEPEAN incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Hanna Mandl recorded 34 saves for BRAMPTON.
