STONEY CREEK rolls over AURORA, 5-2

STONEY CREEK had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over AURORA.

STONEY CREEK got the win thanks to a great game by Sydney McKibbon (C), who had two goals and one assist. McKibbon (C) scored the first of her two goals at 6:42 into the first period to make the score 2-0 STONEY CREEK. Paige Jackson (PU) provided the assist. McKibbon (C)'s next tally made the score 4-2 STONEY CREEK with 10:54 left in the second period. Rosie Heffernan picked up the assist.

STONEY CREEK's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four AURORA power plays. STONEY CREEK forced AURORA goalie Paula Voorheis to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. STONEY CREEK outdid its season average for goals scored. STONEY CREEK averages 2.6 goals per game.

Others who scored for STONEY CREEK included Madison Field, who had one and Sarah Nurse (A), who had two. Other players who recorded assists for STONEY CREEK were Caitlin Wallace and Kristina Kocsis, who each chipped in one.

AURORA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow STONEY CREEK to score on any of its three power plays. AURORA's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. AURORA gives up 2.5 goals per game.
