WHITBY rips SOUTHWEST, 5-1McKinney Rink 2 Sat, Jan 12, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
WHITBY had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over SOUTHWEST. Hanna Bunton was all over the ice for WHITBY, as she tallied two goals in the win. Bunton scored at 11:40 into the first period to make the score 2-0 WHITBY and again while 7:35 into the second to make the score 3-0 WHITBY. SOUTHWEST's power play was ineffective against WHITBY's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. WHITBY kept SOUTHWEST's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hanna Slater made 31 saves on 36 shots. WHITBY also had goals scored by CJ Tipping, who had one and Alex Moore, who had two. More assists for WHITBY came via Lindsey Brazill and Nicole Martindale, who contributed one a piece and Marie-Pierre Pelissou (A), Cassidy Vinkle, Krista Yip-Chuck, and Lauren Williams, who each chipped in two. SOUTHWEST excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. SOUTHWEST's offense was handcuffed by WHITBY's defensive play, and SOUTHWEST managed only 14 shots on goal during the game. SOUTHWEST was led by Erinn Noseworthy, who scored the team's only goal. Noseworthy scored 14:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 WHITBY. Laura Monforton picked up the assist. Hannah Baker made 13 saves for WHITBY on 14 shots. WHITBY incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. SOUTHWEST incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
