WHITBY beat SOUTHWEST, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 5:54 into the the first period by Krista Yip-Chuck proved to be the game winner, and powered WHITBY to the victory Kirsten Welsh picked up the assist.

WHITBY was led by Yip-Chuck, who finished with one goal and one assist.

WHITBY put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow SOUTHWEST to score on any of its three power plays. SOUTHWEST was unable to stop WHITBY from sending pucks towards the net, and WHITBY eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

WHITBY also got points from Welsh, who also had one goal and one assist.

Hannah Baker rejected 24 shots on goal for WHITBY. WHITBY incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Katrina Heyink recorded 31 saves for SOUTHWEST. SOUTHWEST incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
