Field's goals lift STONEY CREEK to 7-3 victory over SOUTHWEST

STONEY CREEK relied on the scoring touch of Madison Field, who netted two goals, to beat SOUTHWEST, 7-3.

Field found the back of the net 28 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 STONEY CREEK and again while 9:41 into the second to make the score 4-2 STONEY CREEK.

STONEY CREEK forced SOUTHWEST's goalies to work between the pipes, getting 38 shots and forcing 31 saves. Katrina Heyink made 10 stops and Hanna Slater made 21. STONEY CREEK put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow SOUTHWEST to score on any of its four power plays. STONEY CREEK's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, STONEY CREEK averages 2.3 goals per contest.

STONEY CREEK additionally got points from Sydney McKibbon (C), who also had one goal and two assists and Sarah Nurse (A), who also registered three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. STONEY CREEK also got a goal from Olivia Atkinson as well. More assists for STONEY CREEK came via Emily Calligan (PU), Kristina Kocsis, Rosie Heffernan, and Madison Brown, who each chipped in one and Caitlin Wallace and Devon Morrison, who contributed two a piece.

SOUTHWEST stifled STONEY CREEK's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. STONEY CREEK's defense shut down SOUTHWEST's forwards for much of the game, and SOUTHWEST got off only 14 shots during the contest.

SOUTHWEST was led by Erinn Noseworthy, who racked up three goals. Other players who recorded assists for SOUTHWEST were Laura Monforton and Monica Sokolowski, who each chipped in one.

Brittany Smrke recorded 11 saves for STONEY CREEK. STONEY CREEK incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. SOUTHWEST incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
