BLUEWATER survived a determined comeback attempt by CAMBRIDGE on the way to a 3-2 win. A goal by Lauren Lefler put BLUEWATER up 3-1 in the third period, but CAMBRIDGE pulled to within one on Kaileigh Grant (A)'s tally 19:30 into the third period. BLUEWATER pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes. BLUEWATER's offense was handcuffed by CAMBRIDGE's defensive play, and BLUEWATER managed only 14 shots on goal during the game. BLUEWATER had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 10 chances. BLUEWATER also got points from Karley Campbell, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jessica Wakefield also scored for BLUEWATER. In addition, BLUEWATER received assists from Brooke Hartwick and Shailyn Waites, who each chipped in one. CAMBRIDGE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. More assists for CAMBRIDGE came via Taytum Clairmont, who had two and Beatrice Harrietha and Amanda McClure, who contributed one a piece. Brooke Gibson rejected 20 shots on goal for BLUEWATER. Jenna Sosnoski made 11 saves for CAMBRIDGE on 14 shots. CAMBRIDGE registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. |
