TORONTO stifles DURHAM WEST's comeback, gains 5-3 victory

TORONTO came close to giving away a three-goal lead to DURHAM WEST, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

TORONTO led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when TORONTO's Jordan McDonell's scored at 14:45 in the second period to put TORONTO up 4-1.

Breanne Wilson-Bennett was all over the ice for TORONTO, as she tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Wilson-Bennett scored 8:58 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Rachel Bierbrier assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, DURHAM WEST was led by Laura Horwood, who registered two goals. Horwood scored the first of her two goals at 2:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 DURHAM WEST. Stephanie Cooper provided the assist. Horwood's next tally made the score 4-2 TORONTO with 18:28 left in the third period. Dana Fairbarn picked up the assist.

TORONTO also got points from Bierbrier, who also had one goal and one assist and Amanda Pantaleo, who also racked up one goal and one assist. TORONTO also got a goal from Brooke Webster as well. More assists for TORONTO came via Emma Greco, Hannah Rastrick, Morgan Sly, Devon Moir, and MacKenzie MacNeil, who each chipped in one.

DURHAM WEST's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. DURHAM WEST is averaging 1.8 goal against for the season.

Brittany St. James also scored for DURHAM WEST. Other players who recorded assists for DURHAM WEST were SaraJane Pratt, Kennedy Marchment, and Carly Marchment (C), who contributed one a piece.

Maggie Prince recorded 16 saves for TORONTO. TORONTO incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kassidy Sauve made 11 saves for DURHAM WEST on 16 shots. DURHAM WEST incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
