KINGSTON survives SOUTHWEST comeback, wins 5-3

KINGSTON, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by KINGSTON and clinched a 5-3 victory.

KINGSTON led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when KINGSTON's Shelby Perry (A)'s scored at 2:14 in the third period to put KINGSTON up 4-1.

KINGSTON pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

KINGSTON's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six SOUTHWEST power plays. KINGSTON surpassed its usual scoring output this season. KINGSTON has scored at the pace of 2.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

KINGSTON additionally got points from Megan Simpson (A), who also had one goal and one assist. KINGSTON also got a goal from Brianna Gaffney as well. Other players who recorded assists for KINGSTON were Kailey Peirson and Alysha Burriss, who each chipped in three.

SOUTHWEST put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow KINGSTON to score on any of its four power plays.

SOUTHWEST was led by Krystin Lawrence, who finished with one goal and two assists. Lawrence scored 15:13 into the third period to make the score 4-3 KINGSTON. Laura Monforton provided the assist. Erinn Noseworthy also scored for SOUTHWEST. More assists for SOUTHWEST came via MacKenzie Berthiaume and Melissa Mayrand, who contributed one a piece.

Jensen Murphy recorded 26 saves for KINGSTON. SOUTHWEST's starting goalie, Hanna Slater, made 13 saves and finished with the loss before she was taken out in favor of Katrina Heyink, who stopped nine shots. SOUTHWEST incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
