Bunton's big game bests BLUEWATER in 6-2 WHITBY win

Behind a great game by Hanna Bunton, who had two goals and two assists, WHITBY defeated BLUEWATER, 6-2.

Bunton scored at 13 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 WHITBY and again while 4:54 into the third to make the score 3-2 WHITBY.

WHITBY forced BLUEWATER goalie Sasha Weekes to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. WHITBY outdid its season average for goals scored. WHITBY has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

WHITBY also got points from Alex Moore, who also registered one goal and one assist and Krista Yip-Chuck, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Jamie Fox (PU) also scored for WHITBY. More assists for WHITBY came via Madison Badeau, Hailey Noronha, Rhyen McGill, Micaela Smith, and Cassidy Vinkle, who each chipped in one.

BLUEWATER's offense was handcuffed by WHITBY's defensive play, and BLUEWATER managed only 13 shots on goal during the game. BLUEWATER's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. BLUEWATER gives up 2.0 goals per game.

BLUEWATER was helped by Brooke Hartwick, who finished with two goals. Hartwick scored the first of her two goals at 51 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Emily Woodhouse provided the assist. Hartwick's next tally made the score 2-1 BLUEWATER with 19:41 left in the third period. Sydney Dobbin assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for BLUEWATER were Lauren Lefler, who had two.

Hannah Baker made 11 saves for WHITBY on 13 shots. WHITBY incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Weekes rejected 30 shots on goal for BLUEWATER. BLUEWATER incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
