Makayla Campbell made 25 saves to complete the shutout and led NEPEAN to a 4-0 win against SOUTHWEST. NEPEAN was led by Meghan Brennan, who tallied one goal and one assist. Brennan scored 10:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NEPEAN. Alyssa Baker picked up the assist. NEPEAN put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow SOUTHWEST to score on any of its five power plays. NEPEAN's defensive play was more effective than usual against SOUTHWEST. NEPEAN gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. NEPEAN forced SOUTHWEST goalie Hanna Slater to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. NEPEAN also got a goal from Taylor Thurston as well. In addition, NEPEAN received assists from Katryne Villeneuve, Mackenzie Stone, Dallis Ferguson, Alison MacKenzie, and Myfanwy Thomson, who each chipped in one. SOUTHWEST's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four NEPEAN power plays. NEPEAN incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. SOUTHWEST's Slater stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that she faced. SOUTHWEST incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
