WHITBY rolls over BARRIE, 7-1

WHITBY had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over BARRIE.

WHITBY's Marissa Kozovski was a brick wall in net, as she came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Kozovski will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 2.22.

WHITBY was led by Krista Yip-Chuck, who registered one goal and one assist. Yip-Chuck scored 12:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 WHITBY. Hanna Bunton provided the assist.

WHITBY kept BARRIE's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lexi Brown made 43 saves on 50 shots. WHITBY's goal total was higher than its season average. WHITBY averages 3.6 goals per game.

WHITBY additionally got points from Rhyen McGill, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Cassidy Vinkle, who also had one goal and one assist, Alex Moore, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Bunton, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. WHITBY also got a goal from Chelsey Stevenson as well. Other players who recorded assists for WHITBY were CJ Tipping, Madison Badeau, Hailey Noronha, and Lauren Williams, who each chipped in one and Micaela Smith and Nicole Martindale, who contributed two a piece.

BARRIE put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow WHITBY to score on any of its three power plays. BARRIE's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. BARRIE is averaging 2.4 goals against for the season.

BARRIE was led by Laura McKenzie, who scored the team's only goal. McKenzie scored 7:52 into the second period to make the score 3-1 WHITBY. Alora Keers (A) assisted on the tally.

WHITBY incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. BARRIE incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
