Huge game by Bochek boosts Bloomington over Denver, 5-2

Kyle Bochek had two goals and one assist to lead the Bloomington Blaze to a 5-2 victory over the Denver Cutthroats.

Bochek's tallies came at 3:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bloomington and on the power play 8:50 into the second to make the score 4-0 Bloomington.

Bloomington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Denver power plays. The Blaze put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 18.8 they average per game.

Bloomington additionally got points from Steve Makway, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Brett Lutes, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Nicklas Lindberg, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Matthew Larke, who had two and Nicolas Rioux, Aaron Dawson, and Leo Thomas, who each chipped in one.

By firing 39 shots on goal, Denver exceeded the 26.2 shots it averages per game this year.

The Cutthroats were helped by Mikael Bedard, who grabbed one goal. Bedard scored 1:24 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Bloomington. Luke Fulghum picked up the assist. Denver also got points from Fulghum, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Denver came via Sean Zimmerman, who had one.

Ross MacKinnon recorded 37 saves for Bloomington. The Blaze incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kent Patterson rejected 24 shots on goal for Denver. The Cutthroats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
