The Missouri Mavericks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Bloomington Blaze on the way to a 3-2 win.

Missouri took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Bloomington storm back on a Steve Makway goal 12:18 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Mavericks' penalty kill excelled, as Missouri gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Mavericks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 20.6 shots per game they average.

Missouri was helped by Riley Emmerson, who racked up one goal. Emmerson scored on the power play 8:16 into the third period to make the score Missouri. The Mavericks had gained a power play chance when Brett Lutes was whistled for boarding. Sebastien Thinel provided the assist. Missouri also got points from Thinel, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Missouri also got a goal from David Simoes as well. In addition, Missouri received assists from Brandon Smith, who had two and Blake Forsyth and John-Scott Dickson, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 33 shots on goal, the Blaze exceeded the 19.1 shots they average per game this year.

Bloomington was helped by Travis Granbois, who registered one goal. Granbois scored 16:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Lutes picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington were Kyle Bochek and Jon Booras, who each chipped in one.

Missouri's Mike Clemente stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Mavericks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Pier-Olivier Pelletier made 26 saves for the Blaze on 29 shots. Bloomington ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Blaze, Lutes was ejected from the game.
