A stellar performance between the pipes by Kieran Millan helped the Denver Cutthroats defeat the Bloomington Blaze, 3-1. Denver was led by Troy Schwab, who registered one goal. Schwab scored 6:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Denver. A.J. Gale picked up the assist. The Cutthroats were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 22 minutes in penalty time. Denver surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cutthroats' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Bloomington power plays. By firing 36 shots on goal, Denver exceeded the 20.8 shots it averages per game this year. Luke Fulghum also scored for Denver. In addition, Denver received assists from Gabe Gauthier, who had two and Brad Smyth and Brett Lutes, who contributed one a piece. Bloomington forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. Bloomington put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.0 it averages per game. The Blaze were led by Leo Thomas, who scored the team's only goal.
