Shawn Szydlowski scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Fort Worth Brahmas picked up the extra point in a 5-4 (1-0 SO) win over the Bloomington Blaze.

Fort Worth overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Brahmas fell behind 4-2 after a goal by Bloomington's Nicolas Rioux at 6:46 in the second period. Fort Worth tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Adam Hogg at 8:20 in the third period.

The Blaze's power play was ineffective against the Brahmas' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

With 28 shots on target during the contest, Fort Worth exceeded the 20.9 shots it averages per game this year.

The Brahmas were led by John Snowden, who had two goals. Snowden scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:20 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Fort Worth earned a power play opportunity when Dan Barczuk was put in the box for slashing. Szydlowski picked up the assist. Snowden's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Bloomington with 9:06 left in the second period. The Brahmas had taken the advantage when Bloomington's Michael Trebish got sent off for cross checking. Sy Nutkevitch assisted on the tally. Fort Worth also got points from Chad Woollard, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Fort Worth came via Nick Schneider, Ross Rouleau, and Calin Wild, who each chipped in one.

The Blaze's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Bloomington finished with 18 penalty minutes. The Blaze relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jon Booras, Kyle Bochek and Barczuk took 12 of the team's 22 shots. Bloomington got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

In addition, Bloomington received assists from Travis Granbois, who had two and Matt Puntureri, Nicklas Lindberg, Matthew Larke, and Jeremy Gates, who contributed one a piece.

Fort Worth's Kristofer Westblom stopped 18 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Brahmas incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Dan Dunn rejected 23 shots on goal for the Blaze.
