Meyers' goals lift Arizona to 4-1 victory over Bloomington

Behind a great game by Ron Meyers, who had two goals, the Arizona Sundogs defeated the Bloomington Blaze, 4-1.

Meyers found the back of the net 58 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Arizona and again while 3:35 into the first to make the score 2-0 Arizona.

Bloomington was stymied by Arizona netminder Adam Russo, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Russo managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.99 prior to the game.

The Sundogs put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.5 they average per game. Arizona could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Arizona additionally got points from Jason Morgan, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Arizona also got a goal from Chad Nehring as well. In addition, Arizona received assists from Karl Linden, Chad Langlais, and Derek LeBlanc, who contributed one a piece.

The Blaze could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Bloomington puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. The Blaze were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of 10 man advantages.

Bloomington was led by Matthew Larke, who scored the team's only goal. Larke scored on the power play 14:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Arizona. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on LeBlanc had put the Blaze on the power play. Jon Booras picked up the assist.

The Sundogs registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Pier-Olivier Pelletier recorded 30 saves for Bloomington. The Blaze incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
