Gron leads Bloomington over Quad City, 7-2

The Bloomington Blaze's Tyler Gron had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-2 win over the Quad City Mallards.

Gron's tallies came at 1:35 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Bloomington and 4:53 into the third to make the score 6-2 Bloomington.

Bloomington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Blaze average 4.3 goals per contest. By firing 47 shots on goal, Bloomington exceeded the 32.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Bloomington additionally got points from Sebastien Trudeau, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jesse Dudas, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Bloomington included David Gilbert, who had one and Nicklas Lindberg, who had two. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Tysen Dowzak, Travis Granbois, and Matthew Larke, who each chipped in one and Jared Walker, Michael Trebish, and Jon Booras, who contributed two a piece.

Quad City kept the Blaze's goalie busy throughout the game, and Gerry Festa made 31 saves on 33 shots.

The Mallards were helped by Mickey Lang, who finished with one goal. Lang scored 1:53 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Shayne Toporowski assisted on the tally. Quad City also got a goal from Brett Robinson as well. More assists for Quad City came via Matt Boyd and Mike Hellyer, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington totaled 22 minutes in penalty time with one minor and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Jimmy Spratt made 40 saves for Quad City on 47 shots. The Mallards totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
